As good as new: Modernization of 4 WinklePresses by Herbst Umwelttechnik
24 years ago Bellmer delivered 4 WinklePresses for the sludge dewatering of various lakes in and around Berlin. These are the same types of press which were installed 3 years ago in Boxberg, in Germany’s Oberlausitz region for the dewatering of iron hydroxide sludge (groundwater) from the local lignite pit mining. After more than 20 years of problem-free operation, the four presses in Berlin needed to be overhauled one-by-one. For this project Herbst Umwelttechnik chose to partner with Bellmer’s Separation Technology Service Team. The complete overhaule of the four WinklePresses resulted in greatly improved dewatering (2 - 3% DS increase) and therefore substantially reduced operating costs for later processing. The last of the presses has now been upgraded successfully and put into operation. Only the frame of the existing machine was maintained - all internal components were renewed.

Dipl.-Ing. Dirk Seidel of Herbst Umwelttechnik commented on the cooperation with Bellmer: „We are very satisfied with our WinklePresses. The modernization work undertaken over recent years means the presses are like new. We achieve excellent final dry solids and save operating costs.“
