16 Bellmer WinklePresses for Washington, D.C.
Blue plains in Washington, D.C. is one of the largest, most modern sewage treatment plants in the United States.

With a capacity of 1.4 million cubic meters per day, the plant treats the entire waste water output of the American capital, and is now being modernized with an advanced sludge treatment system.
First the sludge is treated thermally with the so-called Cambi procedure, before it is added to the digester. The special sludge characteristics call for a specific dewatering technique. Extensive dewatering tests were carried out before the press was selected using Bellmer’s test unit, which has once again proved its worth in assessing the most suitable technology for the application.
The trouble-free operation throughout the testing period, as well as the dry content of more than 30% convinced operators that this was the way to go. The first WinklePress has already been installed.
