Optimum paper roll for Iggesund, Sweden
The Iggesund mill is one of Iggesund Paperboard´s two board mills. Iggesund Paperboard, part of the Swedish forestry group Holmen, is Europe’s leading manufacturer of high-quality paperboard based on virgin fibre. The raw material is primarily taken from Holmen group’s own sustainably-managed forests. The paperboard produced at the Iggesund site, called Invercote®, is a solid bleached board from chemical pulp. It is the leading brand in its market segment and is used in exclusive packaging for cosmetics, perfume or chocolate as well as applications demanding advanced converting. The Iggesund mill has 2 paperboard machines with a combined annual capacity of 340,000 tons. BM 2 was modified successfully by Vaahto in 2007, and over the years, Iggesund has kept very close contact with the Bellmer-Vaahto team led by Jyrki Strengell. Before taking the decision as to the supplier of the new reeling system, Iggesund’s project team made several reference visits in order gauge the performance of potential suppliers. Iggesund was particularly impressed with the way Bellmer focused on the specific requirements of the project during the offer phase.
In addition, Bellmer had come up with highly appropriate solutions for the customer’s needs.
The Bellmer TURBOReelerPro™ center winder features 2 integrated drive systems, which will ensure wrinkle-free winding of the sensitive paperboard grades.

Thanks to the reeling hardness control TURBODur™, the pressure curves can be freely adjusted, thus ensuring perfect further-processing of the paper rolls. The volume of rejects at reel change will be reduced thanks to the larger reel diameter of 3.5 m. In addition, the water-jet supported changing system helps to minimize waste on the reel spool. Reduced rejects should ensure rapid payback on the investment. Because of space restrictions on site, Bellmer worked out specific solutions for movement of the reel spools - they can now be transported directly into the slitter-winder.

With the aid of an air cushion, the reel spools can be moved into parking positions both at operator and drive sides. Installation of the TURBOReelerPro™ is planned for the second half of 2015.
